Ms. Rachel (Rhody) Carman | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Hello! I began teaching at Oakland in 2021. I received my Bachelor of Music Education from Illinois Wesleyan University and my Master of Music in Clarinet Performance and Literature from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. I have been playing clarinet since 5th grade!
When I am not at school, I am probably in Fort Knox, Kentucky. I enlisted in the Army in 2015 and play clarinet in the 100th Army Band! I enjoy my free time at home with Mr. Carman and fur baby, Kitty.
I teach K-5 music as well as beginning, JH, and HS band. In elementary music, we learn the many many things there are to know about music, including its math, science, history, reading, spelling, and of course playing, singing, and moving! Band begins in 5th grade. If you choose to play an instrument in band, we will learn the fundamentals of playing your instrument, grow your technique over the years, offer IESA/IHSA/ILMEA festivals and competitions, and play at ball games and other community events! Here is more about band and signing up!: Click here for our Band Website! Feel free to call, email, or stop by any time with questions or concerns. Music is my vehicle, but I teach our students.
